Concerts and Recitals Programme

Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Due to Coronovirus restrictions, there are currently no concerts at the church. When the government lifts the restrictions, we will resume the Tuesday lunchtime concerts.

Please email if you wish to be contacted about the concerts.

A variety of concerts are held during the year, some by St Paul's based musicians and some by visiting groups, eg. Handbells, Bedford Choral Society, Bedford Sinfonia, Oxford and Cambridge College Choirs.

Tuesday Lunchtime Concerts

Lunchtime Concerts are held every Tuesday at 1.10.p.m during academic terms and they last approximately 50 mins.

St. Paul's has a commitment to discovering, nurturing and promoting new musical talent. For many years the Lunchtime Concert Series has given opportunities to young student musicians to perform in a professional environment.

Our musicians are students who are studying at the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, and Trinity Laban. Occasionally there is an organ recital. Local musicians also feature in the concerts.

The series of concerts features many of the best young pianists and instrumentalists in the UK. All have won major awards, including the International Liszt Competition, The Chopin Competition and Royal Academy and Royal College Inter-collegiate Competitions. These talented musicians are on the cusp of a professional career. (see Facebook (St Pauls Bedford Lunchtime Concert Series)) for details of past and present musicians.

St. Paul's is the perfect venue for recitals, with a superb Bluthner piano and fine acoustics. The church is situated in the centre of the town and is only 10 minutes from Bedford Station. East Midlands trains from St. Pancras take only 35mins. The X5 Stagecoach bus service runs from Oxford to Bedford and Cambridge to Bedford.

The concerts are FREE with a voluntary donation. The church cafe is open from midday. If you are a student musician, who would like to give a recital please email me:

I look forward to welcoming you to these concerts.

Heather Turnham: Concert Director - St. Paul's Church.

* The concerts are not suitable for children under seven years of age.
